Rahul Vellal is a child prodigy from Bengaluru.  He is a 6th standard student studying in Carmel Public School, Bengaluru.  His videos has received accolades from around the world.

Rahul Vellal – Parents :

His mother is Hema and father is Ravishankar Vellal.  Both are techies. Both his parents does not have any background in music.

They recognized Rahul Vellal’s interest in music when he was only two and a half years old.  Initially nobody was ready to take him as he was very young.

Other talents of Rahul Vellal :

Rahul Vellal’s parents got him admitted in the Shloka classes.  He started his music journey under Kalavathy Avadhoot.  He practices music for 2 hours everyday.

He is also learning Mrudangam from Kulur Jayachandra Rao and Western classical piano from Abhhishek S.N.( Trinity School of Music, London)

This child progidy has one million views.  His songs have entertained and healed many people from kids to octogenarians. 

Rahul Vellal’s songs in musical video includes Paluke Bangara mayena, vaishnav Janato, Pibare Rama Rasam, Brahmam Okate, Shivashtakham, Mahalakshmi Ashtakam and Ram Govind Hare for the eminent music director Kuldeep M Pai from Chennai.

He has performed carnatic classic music concerts in many sabhas in India and abroad.  He has won many prizes in many musical competitions.

Rahul Vellal – Academics :

This prodigy is good in his academics.  He is the recipient of CCRT National Level Scholarship for carnatic music vocal from Central Government of India.  He got Bharat Ratna M.S.Subbalakshmi fellowship 2018 for Karnataka vocal.

Prizes & Awards – Rahul Vellal :

Rahul has won many music competitions.  This includes the State-level CEMA for Karnatak classical, Sugama Samrat light music contest, Bengaluru Gayana Samaja’s Purandaradasa and Thyagaraja’s competition.  He was runner-up at National-level Sangeet Samrat competition.

    This prodigy – rather prefer see him for what he is- a child – with his highly soothing renditions is welcome relief to an otherwise noisy divisive society.
