Survey – land/property through drone -Karnataka

Survey – land/property will be conducted after 53 years in Karnataka with the help of drones.  This survey will be the first such survey as previously the survey was done during 1955 and 1966.

Assistance – Survey of India:

The Survey of India will assist Karnataka to conduct drone based Survey – land/property in the state.

Revenue minister in the Karnataka R.V. Deshpande informed media persons in Bengaluru today that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will launch tomorrow Survey of India’s drone based property survey in Ramanagar city limits on pilot basis.

Informing about the advantages of drone based survey, the minister said it is objective, accurate and cost effective.  

This method, he added, will help generate accurate land records in a time bound manner. Manual survey, he noted, is infested with human error and bias and is time consuming.

Areas covered – Survey-land/property :

The drone based survey – land/property will be conducted on five districts and Bengaluru city.  The areas covered are Tumakuru, Hassan, Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Ramanagara and Bengaluru.  The estimated period to cover the survey – land/property is fixed as two years.

The next phase will cover Vijayapura, Kodagu, Dharwad, Dakshina Kannada, Mysuru, Gadag, Davanagere and Kalaburagi.

Drone based Survey – land/property :

According to the rules of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, the survey – land/property should be done once in every 30 years.  Accordingly the Karnataka State was to have been surveyed last in the year 1996.

The Government will be using drones to map with an accuracy of 5 cm in urban areas and 12.5 cm in rural areas.  3D mapping will be done for Bengaluru city.

Surveyor-General of India Lt.Gen. Girish Kumar confirmed signing of a MOU between the Survey of India and the State Government.

Statement by Revenue Minister – Survey- land/property :

According to the Minister, the State will be covered under the drone based survey in five years.  This drone survey-land/property help in maintaining the land records in order.

The survey of land will form a base for the Urban Property Ownership Record.
