Foreign language is a must for management students who are pursuing studies at Bangalore University. The spiraling growth of MNC’s in Bengaluru has fueled the entry of many Foreign Companies, which has made Communication in a foreign language an integral part of a professional career.
As Bengaluru become increasingly globalized, there is an increased interest in foreign languages. Many institutions and institutes offer courses in a different language like Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, Finnish, Russian and many more.
Students who want to pursue management courses under Bangalore University will have to study a foreign language compulsorily from the 2019 academic year. This is being introduced considering the numerous job opportunities for those who know at least one foreign language. The Board of Studies (BOS) for management courses has decided to introduce one foreign language at the postgraduate level.
Reasons for introducing foreign languages:
According to some senior professors, there are a lot of job opportunities in countries like Germany, Japan and France for management graduates. The only reason our students are getting rejected by international companies is their lack of communication skills in the official language of that particular country.
Lack of knowing basic foreign language skills has become a hindrance for placements. Many international recruiters are keen on individuals who know their native language.
Initially, 3 Foreign languages German, Japanese and French will be introduced. Professional ambition plays a vital part in learning the foreign language.
Minimum 10 management students are needed to introduce one foreign language. From the next academic year 2019-20, there will be a compulsory paper on learning the foreign language.
The Centre for Global Languages on the Bangalore Central University (BCU) campus will be roped in as the BCU have enough staff. Students are given a free hand in selecting the foreign language.
