APP to trace and navigate to the polling station is available now. The mobile application— ‘Chunavana APP’ — to navigate you to the polling station using your Voter ID number.
According to an official, “The application is developed to increase voter turnout. It will direct the voters to their closest polling booth with the help of Google map”.
Information on the APP to trace polling stations :
Voters in the State of Karnataka will be getting information on their polling booth thru this APP. a Voter can also find out the status of the queues on voting day. This APP is especially useful for the physically challenged and senior citizen voters.
The Senior citizens and physically disabled, challenged can also avail various services through the “Chunavana” App.
APP to trace polling stations :
According to Mr. Sanjiv Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer, the APP has information and data on all the 58186 polling stations mapped through GIS (Geographic Information System). This facility allows the users to search their polling station.
On voting day it will also provide free pickup and drop facility for elders. Booking is to be done to avail the facilities. Police Station and Hospital which are close to the polling station are also mapped for emergency purpose.
Facilities provided in the last elections :
During elections in the last year, the election authority had provided 14000 wheel chairs to the physically challenged voters. According to a report there are around 4 lakh differently abled persons with various needs are there.
Seizure of arms :
The Election authorities have booked thousands of cases under Preventive Sections of CrPC. Across Karnataka State the commission has seized 84293 licensed arms.
1512 flying squads and 1837 static surveillance teams have been deployed to check the violations and code of conduct.
The election authorities till date have seized Rs.1.35 crore in cash, 1377 litres of liquor which is worth Rs.20 lakh and Rs.1.34 crore worth of other items.
