The day started with Dushyant winning a bronze medal in men’s Lightweight Single Sculls. Dushyant, who was declared the best rower in the 2013 National Championships, finished third on the podium with a timing of 7:18:76 behind South Korea’s Park Hyunsu and Hong Kong’s Chiu Hin Chun.
The Indian, who began rowing in 2012 at an army training camp in Roorkee, had won a bronze in the last edition of the Games, too, in Incheon.
Dushyant Singh, the bronze-winning rower, was struggling with high BP, he threw up at the prize ceremony and had to be stretchered out afterward.
India has won two previous bronzes in the lightweight double sculls event in 1990 and 2006.
