Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan clinched another medal for India at the Asian Games 2018 and the first one in tennis, winning the gold medal.
It was a solid start for Bopanna and Sharan! They had a hold comfortably before breaking their Kazakhi opponents to take a 2-0 lead in the first set.
Bopanna served out a love hold to clinch the first set 6-3 in just 25 minutes! Bopanna and Sharan restored their lead in the second set to take a 4-3 lead in the men’s doubles final event.
The Indian top seeds attacked Aleksandr Bublik – Denis Yevseyey of Kazakhstan in the men’s double event, cruised to a 6-3,6-4 win in just 52 minutes. The duo stayed compact and wasn’t shy of attacking right from the beginning. In contrast, Bopanna and Sharan’s easy camaraderie shone through in the match and they displayed near-perfect on-court coordination. Bopanna and Sharan, who were the top seeds in the event, played to their billing throughout the tournament.
