Shardul Vihan bags Silver in shooting

Shardul Vihan finished 2nd in Men’s Double Trap shooting with a silver medal.   The 15-year old did well at the top for most of the final but missed a few shots in the final shootout round with the winner.   As a 14-year-old, Vihan had grabbed four gold medals at Shotgun Nationals Championship last year. Coached by former Asian Championship double gold medalist Anwer Sultan.

Shardul Vihan from Meerut misses the first shot, takes all the rest. His opponent Korea’s Sungin, however, shoots all on target in the first round.  In the second round, Vihan misses the third shot while Sungin misses two.  The 15-year old boy from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh shot 73 to come second to Korea’s Shin Hyunwoo, 34, who overtook the Indian shooter by a point.  With that, the Korean takes gold while the Indian shooter settles for silver in his first ever Asian Games.

Great display of grit & determination, Shardul  Vihan. We are proud of you!
