Sunil Chhetri who is 33 years old is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Indian club Bengaluru FC and the Indian National Team.   Chhetri began his professional career at Mohun Bagan  in 2002.  He helped India win 2007 Nehru Cup,  2009  Nehru Cup, the 2012 Nehru Cup as well as the 2011 SAFF Championship.  Sunil Chhetri has also been named ‘AIFF Player of the Year’ four times in 2007, 2011, 2013 and 2014.

Bengaluru Football Club is based in Bengaluru.  The club competes as a member of the Indian Super League, one of the top leagues of Indian football.  The club has won two league titles, including one in their debut season, two Federation cup titles and most recently a Super-cup championship.

The club is owned and operated by JSW Group, Mumbai and its Managing Director is Sajjan Jindal.   The club was formed in the year 2013.  Bengaluru FC is reputed for one of the most vocal fan bases in the country.  The fans are known as the West block blues, named after West Block A in the Bangalore Football Stadium.  The coach and the players of the team acknowledge the support of the fans in the success and often refer to them as ‘the 12th Man’.

Sunil Chhetri is one of the greatest footballers the country has produced.  He played his 100th international match when India took Kenya in Intercontinental Cup at Mumbai Football Area.  He started breaking records of players like Davia Villa’s record of 59 goals.

Sunil Chhetri signed with League side Bengaluru FC and extended his contract till 2021 end.  The deal, which adds to his current contract at the club, will see Chhetri as part of the JSW Group owned side until the end of the 2020-2021 season.

The AIFF ‘Player of the Year’ signed a 3 year deal. He is the longest serving player at the club. Having won the club’s top ‘scorer of the year ‘, and for 5 consecutive seasons, he is the club’s highest scorer.

Bengaluru FC are currently training at their residential facilities in Bellary, following which they will be flying out to Spain for a pre-season camp. The 1st match of the season kicks off in less than a month, when the team takes Turkmenistan’s Altyn Asyr FK in a 2 legged Inter-zonal semi final of the AFC Cup on  August 22 & 29.
