Manika Batra and Achanta Sharath Kamal bagged bronze medal in Table Tennis Mixed Doubles

The Indian duo lost in the mixed doubles semi-finals 9-11, 5-11, 13-11, 4-11, 8-11 against the Chinese pair of Yingsha Sun and Chuqin Wangin in a one-sided contest which lasted just 39 minutes to settle for the bronze medal.

This is India’s second medal in table tennis at the Asian Games after the men’s team, which also saw Sharath Kamal in action, bagged the bronze medal after going down 0-3 in the men’s team semi-finals against South Korea.

Manika Batra and Achanta Sharath fought hard but ultimately they lost to the Chinese pair.  They bagged a historic medal for India.

A huge round of applause for the Indian Doubles table tennis team.  Manika Batra is the 1st female Asiad medallist from India in Table Tennis.

Table Tennis Men’s team wins Bronze at Jakarta

Indian Table Tennis men’s team settled for a historic bronze medal after losing 0-3 to South Korea in semifinals at the 18th Asian games.

The team comprising of G.Sathyyan, Achanta Sharath Kamal and A.Amalraj Anthony Arputharaj couldn’t fight against the mighty Koreans.  G.Sathiyan suffered an 11-9,3-11,9-11,3-11 loss to Lee Sangsu in the opening game.  Experienced Sharath Kamal, then entrusted the responsibility of bringing back India and he fought before going down 9-11,9-11,11-6,11-7,8-11 to young Sik Jedug.  In the 3rd game, Amalraj was beaten  5-11,7-11,11-4,7-11 by Woojin Jang of South Korea.
