Bengaluru MP, Union Minister Ananth Kumar Dies At 59

Senior BJP leader and cabinet minister Ananth Kumar died at a hospital in Bengaluru this morning. He was 59. The union minister was suffering from cancer and had returned from the US last month after treatment at a cancer institute in New York. Mr. Kumar’s wife and two daughters were with him in his last moments. His body will be kept at National College in Bengaluru for last tributes.

He was instrumental in the smooth conduct of the Parliament sessions by bring opposition parties on board. During the GST, Kumar had played a key role in the passage of Bill. He had held hectic parleys with opposition parties members to sort out the issues and thus make the GST a reality.

With little or no community support, Kumar caved his own span in the National political arena and displayed his political grit to remain in active politics even as his contemporaries like L.K. Advani, Venkaiah Naidu and others were sidelined.  Ananth Kumar represented the Bengaluru South parliamentary constituency as many as six times

His ambitious attitude and shrewd political sense propelled him on to the fast track of political growth and saw an unprecedented growth in national politics.  Ananth Kumar was a staunch RSS ideologue and a hard boiled organisation man. He was considered Bengaluru’s most loved MP. Kumar was also the first person to speak in Kannada in the United Nations

We at Bangalorean, com are saddened by the passing away of our valued leader. He served society with utmost compassion and diligence.  He will be remembered always for his good deeds.
